Increased heart beat, beads of sweat forming on the forehead, breathing quickened.....some kind of crazy hike / adventure?! nope, that's just getting through Immigration in Dublin Airport. Why is it that when they're asking you run-of -the-mill mundane questions like "what is the purpose of your visit?" and "where will you be staying whilst in the US?" you seem to panic internally a little and bow your head slightly, like you're some Al Capone-type character trying to evade the Feds? Makes you panic that little bit, similar to when you spot a Garda car on the side of the road and, even though you've done nothing wrong, you briefly have a moment's horror of "shit, what speed was I at?!".
Despite all that though, we made it to "U S and A!!! I very excite!!" Clare was so good to put us up in her Manhattan flat, leaving NYC at our doorstep. Some TV Ryder Cup action, some grub and some pints of Samuel Adams later, we're heading to bed at an early time of 22:10. The transatlantic going-back-in-time crossing has left us feeling like we're navigating our way back home after a night out on the tear in Coppers on All-Ireland night.
Here are some gems from NYC so far....
